IT'S YOUR JOB: TAKE CHARGE OF IT

STEPS TO SUCCESS

The Steps to Success

In It’s Your Job: Take Charge Of It readers are shown what successful people do, and the book lists the fundamental tasks that they, and you, should complete for each part of your job. The rest is up to you.

Here are additional words of advice, which are called “The Steps To Success”:

  • Believe that you can do more in your current job.

  • Believe that everything you do can be done better.

  • The power of positive thinking should never be underestimated. Nor should the power of negative thinking.

  • Make sure you are meeting all your job requirements, your objectives and your daily and weekly assignments.

  • Periodically ask yourself:  How am I doing on KNOWING?  How am I doing on DECIDING?  How am I doing on ASSIGNING?  How am I doing on INFLUENCING?  How am I doing on COPING?

  • Critique your own performance. Compare it to the best that others have done in your position, and look for ways to improve.

  • Listen, talk and observe, but mostly listen and observe. There’s a reason you have two ears and two eyes, but only one mouth.

  • Find a mentor or role model, coach or confidant. Read. Go to school. Study. Practice.

  • Help others.

  • Find inspiration, direction and ideas in life stories of successful people. If there are some you want to emulate, then look for ways to do so.

  • Believe in yourself and enjoy the satisfaction derived from doing your best all day, every day.
